FAQ – Microsoft Teams (User) Training

Microsoft Teams is the collaboration hub of Microsoft 365 — combining persistent chat, video meetings, telephony, file sharing, and app integration in a single workspace. It replaces Skype for Business and competes with Slack and Zoom in enterprise environments. Over 320 million people use Teams daily globally. MFE-IT trains end users and team leaders on getting the most out of Teams in their daily work.

Effective Teams usage centers on a few habits: organize work in teams and channels (not endless 1:1 chats), use threads for focused conversations, leverage tags and mentions sparingly, schedule meetings with proper agendas and recordings, take notes inside the meeting, and use Tasks/Planner integration for action items. The MFE-IT Microsoft Teams training covers productivity patterns adopted by high-performing teams.

A Team is a workspace for a group of people working together — typically a department, project, or community. A channel is a sub-section inside a team dedicated to a specific topic, project phase, or workflow. Channels can be standard (visible to all team members), private (selected members), or shared (with people outside the team). Through MFE-IT’s hands-on approach, learners design proper team and channel structures.

Microsoft Teams is designed to reduce internal email by replacing it with chats and channel conversations, but email remains essential for external communication, formal records, and asynchronous workflows. Most organizations end up with a hybrid model: email for outside, Teams for inside. Our MFE-IT training course on Microsoft Teams covers when to use each channel and how to manage notifications across both.
