Description of the VMware vSphere and vSAN Training Course
In the context of IT modernisation, resource virtualisation is a strategic lever.
This training course will enable you to master VMware vSphere for managing virtual machines in a data centre environment, while integrating vSAN for high-performance, redundant hyperconverged storage that can be administered from the vCenter console.
You will learn how to create clusters, ensure high availability, optimise performance and secure the entire environment.

Format
Remote (recorded sessions).
GOOD TO KNOW
This training course includes numerous exercises (60% practical) to enhance learning. Even if you are the only one registered, the session will still take place (except in cases of force majeure). A preliminary interview is held between the participant and/or a company representative in order to fully assess the participant’s profile (level, needs, professional context, challenges, etc.).
Assessment : during the training course, the trainer assesses the participants’ progress through multiple-choice questions, role-playing exercises and practical work. Participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the training course.
This training course is part of our Cloud Computing Training. Discover our other cloud trainings to master architectures, services and best practices on AWS, Microsoft Azure, VMware and Google Cloud Platform.
objectives of the VMware vSphere and vSAN Training Course
By the end, each participant will be able to :
- Understand vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN architecture
- Deploy a complete VMware environment (compute + storage)
- Create, configure, and manage virtual machines
- Implement a vSAN cluster for reliable distributed storage
- Ensure high availability (HA), DRS, and fault tolerance
- Monitor, diagnose, and optimise performance
Prerequisites
- Good knowledge of server operating systems (Linux or Windows)
- Basic knowledge of networking, storage (SAN/NAS), security and IP management
- Previous experience in virtualisation is a plus
- Because each participant is unique, a personalised interview with our expert allows us to design a training course that is perfectly aligned with their objectives, level and professional challenges.
Target Audience
Recommended training for system administrators, virtualisation engineers, or IT architects.

FAQ – VMware vSphere and vSAN Training
What is VMware vSphere?
VMware vSphere is VMware’s enterprise virtualization platform, comprising the ESXi hypervisor on each host and vCenter Server for centralized management. It enables consolidating workloads, live migration (vMotion), high availability, distributed resource scheduling, and integration with vSAN for storage and NSX for networking. It remains the dominant on-premises virtualization platform, despite recent licensing changes. MFE-IT trains administrators on the latest vSphere and vSAN versions.
What is VMware vSAN?
VMware vSAN is a software-defined storage solution integrated directly into vSphere, pooling local SSDs and NVMe storage from cluster hosts to create a shared datastore — eliminating the need for traditional SAN/NAS arrays in many cases. vSAN supports deduplication, compression, encryption, and stretched clusters for active-active sites. The MFE-IT VMware vSphere and vSAN training covers both products as a tightly integrated stack.
How do you create a vSAN cluster?
Creating a vSAN cluster starts with vSphere hosts having compatible local storage (cache + capacity tiers), enabling vSAN on the cluster in vCenter, configuring the cluster network for vSAN traffic (10 GbE minimum), claiming disks, and choosing storage policies (RAID-1, RAID-5/6, FTT). Through MFE-IT’s hands-on approach, learners build a working vSAN cluster on lab hardware during the training.
Should I migrate from VMware?
After Broadcom’s acquisition and the resulting licensing model changes, many organizations are evaluating alternatives like Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Nutanix AHV, or KVM/oVirt. The right answer depends on workload size, team expertise, and TCO modeling. Our MFE-IT training course on VMware vSphere and vSAN includes objective comparisons with leading alternatives so administrators can make informed recommendations.
