The Microsoft Project – Introduction training enables project managers and anyone involved in planning to get to grips with Microsoft’s project management tool. Over 3 days, you learn to build a complete schedule: define tasks and milestones, set up links and the critical path, assign resources, track progress and produce reports. This highly practical course builds on concrete cases with Microsoft Project 2019 and 2021.

Discovering Microsoft Project and project management
  • Project management principles (tasks, milestones, constraints, resources). Discovering the interface, the ribbon and the views. Setting up a new project (calendar, start date, options).
Creating and structuring a schedule
  • Enter tasks and organise them into phases (outline mode). Define durations, milestones and summary tasks. Structure a clear, hierarchical schedule.
Task links and the critical path
  • Create links between tasks (finish-to-start, etc.). Understand the critical path and slack. Manage constraints and deadlines. Read the Gantt chart.
Managing and assigning resources
  • Create resources (work, material, cost). Assign resources to tasks. Understand the work / duration / capacity relationship. Spot over-allocations.
Tracking project progress
  • Save the baseline. Enter task progress. Track schedule variances. Update and adjust the schedule during the project.
Views, reports and printing
  • Use and customise views (Gantt, calendar, tasks, resources). Filter and group data. Produce and print reports to communicate on the project.
