What is the value of the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certifications?
The LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification) certifications are the vendor-independent Linux certifications most recognized worldwide. LPIC-1 validates junior Linux administrator skills (2 exams: 101 + 102). LPIC-2 validates experienced Linux administrator skills (2 exams: 201 + 202). A major asset: these certifications are distro-agnostic, so they remain valuable whether you subsequently work on Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE or Arch.
What is the difference with the Red Hat Linux Administrator path?
This path focuses on the distro-agnostic LPI certifications (LPIC-1 and LPIC-2) with 4 official LPI exams included. The Red Hat Linux Administrator path focuses on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the RHCSA EX200 certification. Choose LPI if you want a distribution-independent certification or if you work on several Linux distributions. Choose Red Hat if your professional target is a company using RHEL specifically in production.
