Description of the training: Power Pivot Training Course
This Power Pivot training course teaches you to go beyond the limits of classic PivotTables to analyse large volumes of data from several tables. Over two highly practical days, you will discover the Power Pivot data model, learn to import and link tables, then create measures using the DAX language. You will cover advanced DAX functions and Time Intelligence for powerful time-based analyses. By the end, you will be able to build robust data models and business-intelligence analyses directly in Excel.

To follow this course under the best conditions, it is recommended to be proficient with Excel’s PivotTables and, ideally, to have some knowledge of Power Query. Discovering Power Pivot and the data model
- Understand the value of Power Pivot and the data model. Enable and explore the interface. Differences from a classic PivotTable. Overview of a business-intelligence analysis project.
Importing and linking tables
- Import data from multiple sources. Create relationships between tables. Design a star schema (fact and dimension tables). Manage hierarchies and data categories.
Creating measures with DAX
- Understand filter and row contexts. Create calculated columns and measures. Essential DAX functions (SUM, CALCULATE, FILTER, ALL). VAR/RETURN variables for readable formulas.
Advanced DAX functions and Time Intelligence
- Advanced DAX functions (SUMMARIZE, RELATED, iterators). Time Intelligence: running totals, variations, period comparisons. Create a date table. Optimise and make measures reliable.
Analysing with PivotTables
- Create PivotTables based on the data model. Use slicers and the timeline. Build business-intelligence dashboards. Refresh and distribute the analyses.

What is Power Pivot?
Power Pivot is an Excel add-in that lets you create a data model linking several tables and define advanced calculations in the DAX language. It goes beyond the limits of classic PivotTables to analyse very large volumes of data. This is the focus of this course.
What is the DAX language?
DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) is the formula language of Power Pivot, Power BI and Analysis Services. It lets you create powerful measures and calculated columns (CALCULATE, FILTER, Time Intelligence). The course devotes a significant part to it.
What is the difference between Power Pivot and Power Query?
Power Query prepares and transforms data (ETL); Power Pivot models and analyses it through relationships and DAX. The two are complementary and often used together. We offer a dedicated course for each.
How long does the Power Pivot training course last?
The course lasts 2 days, i.e. 14 hours. Sessions are guaranteed from the first registration and take place in a small group of 1 to 3 participants. The programme can be customised and organised at your premises.
