About the Excel Intermediate Training Course

This Excel Intermediate training course is aimed at users who have mastered the basic operations of the spreadsheet and wish to gain confidence and independence. Over two hands-on days, you will consolidate calculation formulas, references, conditional formatting and the creation of clear charts. You will also discover the functions that are most useful day to day, along with a first approach to PivotTables to analyse your data more effectively. By the end, you will be able to build reliable, readable tables and save valuable time on your recurring tasks.

To follow this course under the best conditions, it is recommended to have completed the Excel Introduction training course or to have equivalent knowledge: entering and formatting data, simple formulas (SUM, AVERAGE), creating basic tables.   • Reminders on the interface, workbooks and sheets. Quick data entry and selection techniques. Relative, absolute and mixed references. Naming cell ranges for more readable formulas.
Common formulas and functions
  • Essential functions: SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNT. Logical and conditional functions: IF, AND, OR, SUMIF, COUNTIF. VLOOKUP lookup function. Understanding and correcting formula errors.
Formatting and presentation
  • Conditional formatting to highlight information. Custom number formats. Styles and formatting as a table. Page layout and printing (print areas, headers and footers).
Create and customise charts
  • Create a chart and choose the right type (column, line, pie). Customise the elements (titles, legends, labels, axes). Combined charts and trend lines. Introduction to sparklines.
Managing data lists
  • Sort data according to one or more criteria. Filter and use advanced filters. Freeze panes to navigate large tables. Format data as a structured table and take a first approach to PivotTables.

MFE-IT’s Excel Intermediate training course helps users who are already familiar with the basics to gain independence with formulas, formatting, charts and data lists.

Who is the Excel Intermediate training course for?

It is aimed at people who already know the basics of Excel (data entry, simple formulas, formatting) and want to progress towards a more efficient use: common functions, conditional formatting, charts, sorting and filtering, and a first approach to PivotTables.

What is the difference between the Intermediate and Advanced Skills levels?

The Intermediate level consolidates the fundamentals and introduces the functions and charts useful day to day. The Advanced Skills level goes further: advanced functions, in-depth PivotTables, data consolidation and automation. Intermediate is the ideal step before Advanced Skills.

How long does the Excel Intermediate training course last?

The course lasts 2 days, i.e. 14 hours. Sessions are guaranteed from the first registration and take place in a small group of 1 to 3 participants. The programme can be customised and organised at your premises.
