Description of the training: AWS Essential Services Training Course: S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS and EKS
About the AWS Essential Services Training Course

This AWS Essential Services training offers a hands-on immersion in the five fundamental Amazon Web Services: Amazon S3 for object storage, Amazon EC2 for compute, AWS Lambda for serverless, Amazon RDS for relational databases and Amazon EKS for Kubernetes container orchestration.

Over three days, you will learn to deploy, configure and optimise each of these services in real scenarios. From creating EC2 instances with their security groups to setting up Lambda functions triggered by S3 events, through configuring Multi-AZ RDS clusters and deploying containerised applications on EKS.

The programme emphasises security, performance and cost-optimisation best practices for each service. Hands-on labs accompany every module so you can work directly with the services in the AWS console. This training is ideal for IT professionals who want to build operational expertise on the most widely used AWS services. Objectives of the training: AWS Essential Services Training Course: S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS and EKS
Learning objectives of the AWS Essential Services Training Course

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Master Amazon S3: buckets, storage classes, lifecycle policies, versioning, replication and object security
  • Deploy and manage Amazon EC2 instances: instance types, AMIs, security groups, EBS storage and auto scaling
  • Design serverless architectures with AWS Lambda: triggers, integrations, layers and performance best practices
  • Administer relational databases with Amazon RDS: Multi-AZ deployment, Read Replicas, backups and monitoring
  • Orchestrate containers with Amazon EKS: creating Kubernetes clusters, deploying pods and managing services
Prerequisites of the training: AWS Essential Services Training Course: S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS and EKS
Prerequisites for the AWS Essential Services Training Course

Basic knowledge of the AWS cloud (Cloud Practitioner level or equivalent) is recommended. Familiarity with the command line and basic networking concepts will make the hands-on labs easier.

Target audience of the training: AWS Essential Services Training Course: S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS and EKS

Amazon S3: advanced object storage
  • Create and configure S3 buckets: access policies, ACLs and bucket policies
  • Manage storage classes: Standard, IA, Glacier, Intelligent-Tiering and lifecycle rules
  • Enable versioning, cross-region replication and event notifications
  • Secure data: SSE-S3, SSE-KMS encryption, access via presigned URLs and VPC endpoints
Amazon EC2: cloud compute
  • Launch and configure EC2 instances: instance families, AMIs, user data and metadata
  • Manage storage with EBS: volume types, snapshots and encrypted volumes
  • Configure security groups and network rules for instances
  • Set up Auto Scaling Groups and Elastic Load Balancing for high availability
AWS Lambda: serverless computing
  • Create and deploy Lambda functions: runtimes, handlers, environment variables and layers
  • Configure triggers: API Gateway, S3, SQS, DynamoDB Streams and EventBridge
  • Manage concurrency, timeouts and dead letter queues
  • Optimise performance: cold starts, provisioned concurrency and packaging best practices
Amazon RDS: relational databases
  • Deploy RDS instances: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle and SQL Server
  • Configure high availability with Multi-AZ and Read Replicas for read scalability
  • Manage automated backups, snapshots and point-in-time restore
  • Monitor performance with RDS Performance Insights and CloudWatch metrics
Amazon EKS: Kubernetes orchestration

  • covers compute, storage, serverless, databases and containers
  • alternates theory with hands-on practice on each service
  • prepares you to design operational AWS architectures
FAQ
What do the AWS essential services S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS and EKS cover?

S3 is universal object storage; EC2 lets you launch virtual machines; Lambda runs serverless code on demand; RDS provides managed databases; EKS orchestrates Kubernetes containers. At MFE-IT this is delivered in a small group and tailored to your context.

What is the difference between EC2, Lambda and EKS?

EC2 = IaaS (you manage the OS). Lambda = FaaS (you only provide code). EKS = PaaS for Kubernetes (you orchestrate your containers). These three models meet different needs.

Who is this training for?

Developers, DevOps engineers, junior architects and system administrators who want to get hands-on with the AWS building blocks most used in production. A Cloud Practitioner level helps.

How long is the AWS Essential Services training at MFE-IT?

The training lasts 3 days (21 hours), delivered remotely. An intensive, hands-on format with practical labs on an AWS account.
