GOOD TO KNOW
This training course includes numerous exercises (60% practical) to enhance learning. Each session will take place even if only one person is registered (except in cases of force majeure). A preliminary interview is held between the participant and/or a company representative in order to fully assess the participant’s profile (level, needs, professional context, challenges, etc.).
Assessment : during the training course, the trainer assesses the participants’ progress through multiple-choice questions, role-playing exercises and practical work. Participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the training course.
This training course is part of our Database Training Courses. Discover our other database and BI courses to model, exploit and add value to your business data.
objectives of this Oracle Data Guard Training Course
By the end, each participant will be able to :
- Understand the architecture and operation of Data Guard
- Deploy a Data Guard environment with primary and standby databases
- Manage replication, switchovers/failovers, and protection modes
- Automate monitoring and alerts
- Test and document a disaster recovery plan (DRP)
- Resolve incidents related to synchronisation and performance
Prerequisites
- Proficiency in Oracle databases (administration level)
- Comfortable with Linux/Unix and command line
- Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts (desirable)
- Because each participant has a unique background and expectations, a preliminary interview with our expert allows us to precisely identify their objectives, level and professional challenges.
This enables us to tailor the training content to ensure relevant and personalised learning.
Target Audience
Essential training for any DBA or administrator responsible for ensuring maximum availability of critical databases.

FAQ – Oracle Data Guard Training
What is Oracle Data Guard?
Oracle Data Guard is Oracle Database’s replication and high availability solution. It maintains one or more standby databases synchronized with the primary to ensure business continuity, disaster recovery (DR) and read load balancing. MFE-IT trains DBAs on its deployment, monitoring and switchovers.
What is the difference between Data Guard, RAC and GoldenGate?
Data Guard protects against disasters through a remote standby, RAC (Real Application Clusters) provides high availability within a single datacenter via multiple active nodes, and GoldenGate handles heterogeneous logical replication. The three solutions are complementary. MFE-IT clarifies the use cases and target architectures.
How do you organize a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) with Data Guard?
A Data Guard DRP relies on a remote physical standby, defined RPO/RTO objectives, the Data Guard Broker to automate switchover, primary/standby roles, and regular switchover/failover tests. The MFE-IT training details how to set up a robust and tested DRP.
How long is the Oracle Data Guard training at MFE-IT?
The training lasts 3 days (21 hours), remote or on-site, with a maximum of 3 participants per session and 30 days of post-training support included.
