FAQ – Microsoft Copilot MS-4005 Training
What is prompt engineering?
Prompt engineering is the art of crafting instructions for an AI assistant like Microsoft Copilot to obtain precise, relevant and reproducible results. A good prompt combines a role, a context, a clear task, examples and format constraints. The MS-4005 training from MFE-IT gives you an official Microsoft methodology to boost your productivity in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.
What is the GCSE method in Microsoft Copilot?
Microsoft recommends a 4-pillar structure for Copilot prompts: Goal (the objective), Context (the business context or the data involved), Source (the files, emails or sites to use), Expectations (expected format, tone and length). This method, taught in the MS-4005 curriculum, significantly improves response quality compared to an unstructured question.
How does Copilot access my internal data?
Microsoft 365 Copilot relies on Microsoft Graph to access — while respecting the signed-in user’s permissions — their Outlook emails, OneDrive/SharePoint files, Teams conversations and calendar. It does not train the models on your data. The MFE-IT training explains the security principles, Sensitivity Labels and best practices for prompting on confidential data.
How long does the MS-4005 training last?
The MFE-IT training lasts 1 day (6 hours), in a fully customised format with a maximum of 3 participants per session. It covers the fundamentals of prompt engineering, the Microsoft GCSE method, specialised prompts for each application (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint), iterative refinement and security limits and best practices. 30 days of post-training support.
