Centreon Advanced Level Training Course

Description of this Centreon Advanced Level Training Course

Centreon is now at the heart of infrastructure monitoring systems in many organisations. This advanced training course is designed to enable you to manage complex, distributed environments while optimising performance, security and the automation of monitoring processes.

You will learn how to set up distributed multi-polling monitoring, automate configuration deployments, enhance resilience, leverage logs intelligently, and integrate third-party tools.

Also discover our Centreon Administration Level Training Course – Automate, optimise and secure your IT monitoring.

Format

Remote (recorded sessions).

GOOD TO KNOW

This training course includes numerous exercises (60% practical) to enhance learning. Even if you are the only one registered, the session will still take place (except in cases of force majeure). A preliminary interview is held between the participant and/or a company representative in order to fully assess the participant’s profile (level, needs, professional context, challenges, etc.).
Assessment : during the training course, the trainer assesses the participants’ progress through multiple-choice questions, role-playing exercises and practical work. Participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the training course.

objectives of this Centreon Advanced Level Training Course

By the end, each participant will be able to :

  • Deploy a distributed and resilient architecture (multi-pollers, HA)
  • Automate configuration with dynamic templates, bulk imports or scripts
  • Secure inter-component flows and track sensitive events
  • Integrate Centreon with other systems (CMDB, ITSM, SIEM or DevOps tools)
  • Optimise platform performance: databases, collection, display
  • Industrialise best practices for documentation, maintenance and versioning

Prerequisites

  • Have completed the Centreon Administration training course or have equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems, network concepts, and Centreon in a real environment.
  • Knowledge of distributed IT architecture and network security is appreciated.
  • Because each participant has a unique background and expectations, a preliminary interview with our expert allows us to precisely identify their objectives, level and professional challenges.
This enables us to tailor the training content to ensure relevant and personalised learning.

Target Audience

IT operations teams, monitoring managers, DevOps administrators, or multi-site IT managers.

FAQ – Centreon Advanced Training

The Centreon Advanced training goes beyond basic administration to cover advanced topics: distributed architectures with multiple pollers and remote servers, high availability, custom plugin development, business activity monitoring (BAM), advanced ACL and LDAP integration, performance tuning, and capacity planning. MFE-IT delivers this curriculum to seasoned Centreon administrators looking to operate at enterprise scale.

Performance optimization in Centreon involves database tuning (MariaDB indexes, partitioning), broker configuration, poller load balancing, plugin caching, and Storage engine tuning. Disk I/O on the broker is often the first bottleneck. Through MFE-IT’s hands-on approach, advanced learners profile their own Centreon installations and apply concrete optimizations during the training.

Yes, Centreon scales to tens of thousands of hosts and millions of services through its distributed architecture: multiple pollers, remote servers, sharded databases, and dedicated broker instances. Real production deployments at French banks, telcos, and government agencies routinely exceed this scale. The MFE-IT Centreon Advanced training covers the architecture patterns that make this possible.

Custom Centreon plugins follow the Nagios plugin specification: any executable returning the right exit code (0/1/2/3) and output format. They can be written in Bash, Python, Perl, or Go. Centreon also provides a Perl framework (centreon-plugins) that streamlines plugin development. Our MFE-IT advanced training course on Centreon covers plugin design, packaging, and distribution best practices.
