FAQ – Administering Windows 11 Training

To become an administrator on Windows 11, open Settings > Accounts > Family & other users, select the target account and switch its type to “Administrator”. You can also use the Computer Management console (lusrmgr.msc) or the “net localgroup administrators” PowerShell command. In a domain context, group memberships are managed via Active Directory. The MFE-IT Administering Windows 11 training covers local accounts, AAD-joined devices and least-privilege strategies (UAC, LAPS, RBAC) for secure daily administration.

The classic Administrative Tools folder has been renamed “Windows Tools” in Windows 11 and is accessible from the Start menu or via Control Panel. It still contains the same MMC consoles: Services, Event Viewer, Disk Management, Computer Management, Task Scheduler, etc. Many functions have also been migrated to the new Settings app and to PowerShell/Windows Admin Center. MFE-IT teaches participants how to navigate Windows Tools, the Settings app and modern PowerShell cmdlets to administer Windows 11 efficiently.
You can learn Windows administration through Microsoft Learn modules, Microsoft Official Courses (MD-100, MD-102), independent training organisations and hands-on labs on Hyper-V or Azure VMs. The most effective approach combines theory with real lab exercises on Active Directory, Group Policy, Intune and PowerShell. The MFE-IT Administering Windows 11 training course focuses on practical skills, with 60% lab time, sessions guaranteed from one registrant and 30 days of post-training support.
Windows 11 Education is distributed to eligible academic institutions through Microsoft volume licensing programs (Education A3/A5, EES) or Microsoft 365 Education. Students and staff can usually obtain it via their school’s software portal. For a corporate Windows 11 administration learning lab, Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise is generally preferred because it supports domain join, Group Policy and BitLocker. Through MFE-IT’s hands-on approach, learners master deploying Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise images, configuring policies and managing endpoints in production-like environments.
